Insecurity: The loss of Attahiru and other officers has exacerbated our problems, according to Buhari.
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), stated that the deaths of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and ten other military officers have exacerbated Nigeria’s security challenges. He expressed regret that the incident occurred at a time when the country is facing security challenges.
Buhari made the remarks on Monday, when he received a delegation from the Nigeria Governors Forum, which had come to the presidential villa in Abuja to express condolences on Friday’s air crash in Kaduna.

“This is a situation that only God knows when it will happen, and it happened at a time when the security situation in the country is a critical issue,” the president said. “And losing choice officers has exacerbated our problem, but we know what we’re up against, and we’ll keep working and praying so that God will give us the strength to appreciate and apply ourselves to the problem. “The people who elected us are aware of the promises we made within the timeframe…the situation in which we find ourselves… We will keep attempting and doing our best.”
Fayemi, the president of the Nigerian Governors Forum, expressed shock at the officers’ deaths. “We’ve read your statement, and this delegation of governors considers it a duty and part of our obligation as your representatives to express our condolences on the loss of your gallant officers,” he said. “We understand that this is an event that has affected you. When we mentioned the need for a change in service chiefs, you were determined to get the best group of people, you gave your assurance, and the military began to feel the impact.
“We understand that this is a major setback, but you are unwavering in your pursuit/commitment to ensuring peace and security in our country. “It is unfortunate that we have suffered such losses. We only pray that God gives both the families and the country the strength to bear the loss, and that God gives our country the determination to continue on the path that the late COAS towed. “We must defeat banditry, insurgency, and criminality for ourselves. That is the mandate you have given them. This should not be interpreted as a retreat or surrender on our part.
“As you have promised, we know that our country will do everything in its power to ensure that the administration does everything in its power to care for the families of the fallen officers. It indicates how well-protected active officers would be.”
