New COAS: We’re not surprised by Buhari’s nepotism anymore – HURIWA
It is not surprising that President Muhammadu Buhari settled for another northerner, Ms Gen. Farouk Yahaya as the New Chief of Army Staff, following last week’s death in an airplane crash of a former army chief of Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, a nonprofit organization and ace rights defender group, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, Hurava, said.
The refusal of Buhari to nominate Igbo COAS shows that he doesn’t believe in Nigeria
The Group stated that since 2015 “the president of the Nigerian Customs, Nigeria Immigration Department, Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Service and the national Intell has been in charge of “illegal and unconstitutional practice in posting only Northern Houseas/Fulani Moslems to all internal security architectures
In a Statement endorsing the appointment of only HAP/FULANI citizens to joyous internal security positions, HURIWA said that “the shameless nepotistic decision of President Buhari to continue illegal, unconstitutional abuse in violation of federal Constitutional provisions is despicable, condemnable, and totally toxic.”
Onwubiko said that the federal parliament was alive to his responsibilities; for what he termed his “serial constitutional abusses” President Buhari should have been prosecuted a long time ago. The rights group accused the first citizen of violating his constitutional oath of office by “nepotism as clearly demonstrated by his dislike to respect the principle of federal character, even if the President swore to “release my duties in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and with all due respect for law” to the fullest degree possible the presidential oath of office. Buhari’s denial of a South East military officer, even though he is the highest of the Major Generals “strengthens his notoriety as someone who does not believe in one Nigeria,” was stated by the group. The right group is not to appoint a military chief.
