AFTER A PETTY SPELL CHECK, MEEK MILL SAYS TO TORY LANEZ, “I DON’T FUCK WIT YOU.”
Meek Mill may be the first rapper to receive the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s “Changemaker” Humanitarian Award for his work in criminal justice reform, but he’s still got smoke for his opps. On Thursday (August 12), while displaying his coveted award on Instagram, the Philly rapper got into a heated exchange with Tory Lanez, who originally jumped into the comments area to fix Meek’s spelling.
Meek’s caption stated, “Blessings…” “I received the Nelson Mandela Humanitarian Award.” Thank you, Rip, to Nelson Mandela. ‘I didn’t grow up playing ball; I had a Smith & Western* because it’s really difficult to turn 27′ #survivors.”
While Slim Thug, Tierra Whack, and former NBA champion Stephen Jackson congratulated Meek on his accomplishment, Tory chose to nitpick Meek’s spelling of the guns maker, writing, “Smith & Wesson*.” Meek said, “It’s called’meek flow,’ say congrats or anything weirdo lol.” Tory responded, “It wasn’t that profound… I just don’t want you to seem stupid. Congratulations, tho bozo.” The conversation then became more aggressive, with Meek Mill telling the Toronto rapper, “I don’t fuck wit you right now.” “It’s kinda deep you trying to help me with my spelling and you know for a fact I don’t fuck with you right now,” Meek retorted. “If you guys are genuinely rich, why are you pretending like we’re cool on the internet?” And you already know we don’t do you… should remain out of the street when we’re talking about those blowers.”
It’s unknown what caused the feud between Meek Mill and Tory Lanez. Some fans have cited Tory’s recent “When It’s Dark” freestyle, which was directed largely at fellow Philadelphia MC Cassidy but finds the Toronto rapper adopting a Meek-like flow without guilt. “I’ll take an n-flow gga’s and what?” he mocked. Tory Lanez was rumored to have taken Harlem MC Melii from Meek Mill’s Dream Chasers label in 2019. Tory, though, stressed in an interview with Genius at the time that there was no ill blood between him and Meek. Meek Mill and Tory Lanez have previously cooperated on tracks such as “Litty,” “Lord Knows,” and the now sarcastically titled “Fuckin’ Wit Me.” Both artists were targeted by Drake on his 2016 diss hit “Summer Sixteen.”
