Basketmouth, a Nigerian comedian, has said that the arrest of a skit maker, De General, was a waste of taxpayers’ money.
The skit maker, who was born Sunday Joshua, was previously detained by officers from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, who invaded his home in the early hours of Wednesday.
The skit maker admitted to owning tramadol and cannabis drug exhibits seized in his residence, according to an official statement from the agency.
Basketmouth reacted to the arrest by posting on his Instagram story that De General’s arrest was a waste of taxpayers’ money.
The comedian drew reference to the mugshot that the skit maker took at the NDLEA custody in a video he released.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not in favor of marijuana use, and I don’t use it myself,” he stated. I’ll never do something like that, but what I’m saying is that you’re wasting tax payers’ money by arresting someone for a minor amount of ‘igbo.’ You’ve just squandered my money.”
The NDLEA, on the other hand, revealed that “cannabis sativa; tramadol 225mg, and certain drug use paraphernalia” were discovered in De General’s residence.
