Wizkid has been nominated for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, alongside Tems and Justin Bieber.
Wizkid FC is celebrating after receiving a nomination at this year’s Billboard Music Awards for his smash hit song Essence (remix), which features Canadian pop artist Justin Bieber and Nigerian R&B star Tems.
When the nominations for the 2022 BBMAs were published a few hours ago, the BBMAs announced it on their official Twitter page.
Wizkid is up against Doja Cat, Giveon, Silk Sonic, and Justin Bieber, whose popular song ‘Peaches’ is also up for a nomination for ‘Top R&B Song.’
Wizkid released an Essence remix in 2021, featuring new vocals from Canadian pop artist Justin Bieber, after his song ‘Essence’ (with Tems) from his 2020 ‘Made In Lagos’ album hit various local and international music charts.
The remix of ‘Essence,’ which had already gone viral, went viral even more, reaching practically every music chart in the United States. When it reached number 9 on the Billboard Top 10 in October 2021, it became the first Afrobeats song (Essence remix) to do so.
The BBMAs ceremony will take place on May 15, and it will feature several performances by artists from all around the world.
