After travelling to the Cayman Islands last week, American supermodel Gigi Hadid was detained and accused of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. E! News has learnt that the 28-year-old was detained at Owen Roberts International Airport on July 10 as she boarded a flight for a girls’ trip.

Customs officers allegedly discovered “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” in Hadid and her friend’s luggage not long after they arrived on a private plane, claims local publication Cayman Marl Road.

According to the outlet, Hadid and her friend were then hauled into custody on “suspicion Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of Ganja,” and after being transferred to the Prisoner Detention Centre,

they were released on bail. Despite the fact that the marijuana was found to be for “personal use only,” Hadid and McCarthy were detained on suspicion of importing both marijuana and smoking equipment.

According to Cayman Marl Road, Hadid and her friend were officially prosecuted on July 12 during a court appearance. They pleaded guilty and were each fined $1,000. They are not being prosecuted.
