Raving pop superstar Divine Ikubor aka Rema has pushed for collaboration with additional American major stars following the success of his smash duet with Selena Gomez, “Calm Down.”
The Beninese musician explicitly stated on Tuesday at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey that he wants to work with female superstars more often.
He mentioned a few musicians he is eager to collaborate with soon in a brief chat with Hollywood Reporter, including the rappers Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion.
The first-ever 2023 MTV Video Music Awards for “Best Afrobeats Song” were held on Tuesday at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey, USA, with Rema defeating Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and others. As he won his award, Rema honoured the legendary musicians from Nigeria Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid for their contributions to afrobeats and for establishing the genre on a global scale.
Regarding accolades, Rema won the best male artist, best digital artist, and best African artist prizes at the recently held Headies Awards. In addition, Selena Gomez, who worked with Rema on the global hit “Calm Down,” won international artiste of the year, and Director K, who created the music video for the “Calm Down” remix, won best music video. of the year
