Governor Alex Otti of Abia clarifies the N1.5 billion allotted for the purchase of two Hilux cars.

Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, has responded to the debate about the funding for two Toyota Hilux cars.

According to Otti, two Toyota Hilux cars were actually allotted 150 million naira under his government. He went on to say that the 1.5 billion naira that had been mentioned in a previous article had been a software glitch.

In response to a query from a journalist on media claims that the Abia State Government had approved N1.5 billion to purchase two units of Hilux cars in its 2024 budget, Governor Otti made this statement on Tuesday, February 6, at the Ezeukwu Road Market in Aba.

The controversial figure was attributed to a software glitch caused by the Excel package used to prepare the budget document by Otti, who was at Ezeukwu Market to show his sympathies to some traders who had lost their goods in a fire incident that happened in the market on Monday night, February 5. Otti said the error has been corrected to intended 150 million naira.
