When two strong talents from the same label meet in the studio, the result can sound so unified that listeners wonder if one artist actually wrote for the other. That’s exactly what many people are saying about Rema and Ayra Starr’s recent collaboration. The second verse, in particular, carries a tone and delivery that make fans ask whether Rema wrote it or heavily guided how it should sound.
Did Rema actually write Ayra Starr’s second verse?
rema ayra starr collaboration second verse
There’s no public, confirmed credit naming Rema as the writer for Ayra’s verse, but the verse bears clear stylistic marks associated with Rema.
The vocal choices, the rhythm of the lines, and the emotional push in that verse match patterns Rema often uses. Co-writing and idea-sharing are common in modern Afrobeats sessions, so even when an artist records their own lines, those lines are often shaped by another artist’s melody or phrasing. That makes a verse sound like a single creative voice even when two people contributed.
How could Rema have influenced the verse?
Direct influence can happen in several ways: he could have written the lines, suggested melodies, or guided delivery during recording.
Co-writing: Rema might have sketched the melody or lines and handed them to Ayra to record in her voice.
Melodic guide: He could have hummed a melody or demoed a delivery that Ayra then adapted.
Studio direction: In collaborative sessions, artists often give each other feedback on cadence, phrasing, and vocal tone. That kind of direction can make a verse sound like it came from the same writer.
Why does the verse sound like Rema’s style?
The verse uses short melodic hooks, abrupt pauses, and a mix of streetwise lines with tender melodic runs — elements Rema often uses in his songs.
Those devices create a vocal fingerprint. When another artist uses similar phrasing or mirrors that energy, listeners quickly pick up on the similarity. Since both artists come from the same creative circle, those stylistic overlaps are natural.

When Olamide released Eyan Mayweather a decade ago, it felt like a wake-up call for Nigerian rap. The project wasn’t chasing radio hooks — it was about bars, delivery, and asserting dominance. Ten years on, the record still gets mentioned when anyone talks about raw Nigerian rap energy.
What made Eyan Mayweather different?
The album focused on hard rap and clear messaging. Olamide used sharp verses and street stories instead of leaning on pop crossover hits. That made the project feel serious and direct — a lot of rappers heard the message and chose not to respond publicly.
olamide eyan mayweather years later
Why did Olamide call out other Nigerian rappers?
At the time, many rappers were shifting toward pop to chase streams and club plays. Olamide pushed back because he wanted rap to stay relevant on its own terms. The calls-out came from competition — not personal attacks — and from a desire to show rap can still headline and sell without changing its voice.
Did any rapper reply to the diss?
No major public reply came. That silence said as much as a response would have. It showed the force of Olamide’s presence in the scene and how few were willing to directly confront him on record.
Why Eyan Mayweather still matters 10 years later
New rappers and fans still use the album as a reference for confident delivery and street-level storytelling. It’s a reminder that strong bars and conviction can shape a career. The record also marked a moment when Nigerian rap stood its ground.
How should new rappers respond if they want to challenge a big name today?
Focus on craft: write sharp verses and tighten your delivery.
Release strong singles first — let the work speak.
Keep your team ready: promotion matters as much as the bars.
Don’t rush for a diss — build credibility so your rebuttal lands.
For many fans, one of the biggest highlights on Sabali is “Perfect Situation.” The track doesn’t just bring together Davido, Mayorkun, and Dremo—it revives memories of the old DMW era, a period when the label was known for consistent back-to-back hits and a strong sense of brotherhood among its artists.
Back then, whenever Davido, Mayorkun, and Dremo linked up, the result was always a crowd favorite. Songs like Mind and Back to Back became anthems, reminding listeners of the unstoppable chemistry the trio shared. Over time, with each artist chasing individual growth, fans started missing that united DMW energy.
Now, Peruzzi has managed to pull off something special: a reunion on his own project. By featuring these three on “Perfect Situation,” he has given fans what they’ve been asking for—a chance to experience the magic of the old DMW squad once again.
This collaboration feels less like a random feature and more like a family link-up. It’s a reminder that the bond between these artists is still alive, even as they’ve ??each grown into bigger stars. Many fans already believe this track will become one of the album’s def c Zac ining moments, not just for its sound but for the nostalgia it carries.

After months of anticipation, Uchemelenze has finally released his most awaited track titled “Dey Play”. But beyond the beats and the lyrics, the song carries a raw backstory of pain, betrayal, survival, and triumph.
Earlier today, I was with Uchemelenze as he explained the real-life struggles that inspired Dey Play. His words were heavy, filled with memories of close friends and life-threatening experiences that shaped him into the artist he is today.
According to Uchemelenze, life in the music business has never been easy. Starting out in port harcourt township, he faced jealousy, envy, and constant roadblocks. He recalled how some artists tried to rise but never made it out. Painful examples include the likes of Dj jamo _ tha ibz, V.I. Kelly, Decorage, Vinta 60 and Jaja d Don (R.I.P.) — young talents whose journeys were cut short too soon.
For Uchemelenze, these losses weren’t just stories; they were reminders of how dangerous and unpredictable the journey can be.
The “Calabar Belt” Sickness
In the lyrics Uchemelenze said: I no be Anthony Joshua but they call me a champion my reward na “calabar belt” if no be Jaja d Don, terry unique, Sparta Roy,(I for don kick bucket)
At one point, Uchemelenze faced what he described as the “Calabar belt,” a strange sickness that almost claimed his life. He said it felt like a spiritual attack, something sent to break him down when he was just trying to do his own thing.
uchemelenze dey play song struggle survival real life
During this dark period, a few people stood by him — names like Nature prince, terry unique, Sparta Roy, and Jaja d Don (R.I.P.) and few of his friends and love ones played a role in supporting him. Even though Jaja d Don (R.I.P.) is gone now, Uchemelenze remembers him as a real one who stood with him during tough times. Against all odds, Uchemelenze survived.
The Masquerade Incident
In the lyrics he said: Ekpo chase me, Wan fall my hand, but as him chase, him hand come fall him face come show, him hand come fall….
Another story that shaped Dey Play was when Uchemelenze attended a masquerade play. Things took a dangerous turn when one of the masquerades expected something from him — possibly money — but Uchemelenze had nothing to offer.
Offended, the masquerade picked up a machete and attempted to attack him. Uchemelenze ran for his life as the masquerade gave chase. But then, fate intervened — the masquerade stumbled, fell, injured his toe badly, and his mask dropped to the ground.
The crowd immediately turned their energy towards Uchemelenze, lifting him up and hailing him. To them, he had been saved from harm, a sign that destiny was on his side.
The Betrayal at Ebonyi state Show
In the lyrics uchemelenze said: igwe Agrrey call me for show, them pass my back go the show, stupid niggers think say I know go know now everything don gbolo Dey play…..
Uchemelenze said Igwe Agrrey once met him and told him, “I don’t have silver or gold to give you, but I have show connection for you. But I won’t reveal it to you
As they kept getting along, months passed. During December of that same year, Uchemelenze got a call from igwe Agrrey letting him to know that the show will be in January the next year.
The planned show with Igwe Agrrey originally included entertainers like DJ Play Boi, Vinta 60 (R.I.P), Oliver, MP2, and Uchemelenze. But along the line, things took another turn.
Someone else suddenly became the chairman of the planning committee for the Ebonyi State show and even went ahead to take money from Igwe Agrrey, According to uchemelenze the day they where supposed to travel to Ebonyi state for the event he was having some financial challenges at the time which he already lost his phone during this period.
So before departure he told DJ Uzo best that he should call him when they are about to depart for the journey that he wants to go and meet his mother(R.I.P) for some financial assistance, but before Uchemelenze could return from the short trip to meet his mother (R.I.P) they have departed and kept his bag at bimo bar Agrrey road.
Uchemelenze said that immediately he came back and saw his bag, he called DJ Uzo Best, who picked up and told him that they had already started the journey. Then Melenze called Young Kaze, who confirmed that they had already gone past Port Harcourt Shopping Mall (SPAR).
Filled with anger and grief, when he got to Cemetery Junction, he saw the car coming out from Victoria Street to Agrrey Road.
Out of anger, Melenze stopped the car, and the person who had boycotted Uchemelenze from the show came out. After a long argument and grief-filled with exchanges, of words the car’s side mirror broke.
The driver, now angry, said he wanted to go back and park his car since things had turned violent. Uchemelenze then placed his bag inside the car, and the driver drove off to park at Bimo Bar.
However, instead of stopping there, they diverted through another street and continued the journey without Uchemelenze.
In the end, Uchemelenze was refused from attending the show.
It was a huge event that featured big names like Phyno, Jeriq, Ruff Coin (Nwa Aba), and several local rappers. Uchemelenze had been excited, thinking it was his chance to shine, but betrayal struck and left him behind.
But along the way, betrayal struck leaving him behind, cutting him off from the opportunity that could have pushed his career forward. For Uchemelenze, this was one of the hardest pills to swallow — being sidelined by those he trusted.
All these moments — the sickness, the masquerade incident, the betrayal, and the painful memories of fallen comrades — came together to inspire “Dey Play”.
For Uchemelenze, the track is not just another song. It’s a reflection of real-life struggle, a tribute to survival, and a reminder that no matter how hard the street gets, the dream must continue.
