Popular Nigerian broadcaster and Agidigbo FM founder, Oriyomi Hamzat, has officially apologized to singer Naira Marley after previously accusing him of being linked to the tragic passing of late artist Mohbad.

Back in September 2024, shortly after Mohbad’s sudden demise, Hamzat announced that Agidigbo FM would no longer play any music from Marlian Records. At the time, public anger was heavily directed at Naira Marley, with many pointing fingers at him over the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s career and death.
Oriyomi Hamzat’s Apology to Naira Marley
Speaking recently on air, Oriyomi Hamzat admitted he had been hasty in judgment. He explained that his decision was fueled by public emotions and not based on verified facts. Hamzat expressed regret for painting Naira Marley in a bad light, adding that he is now willing to give the Marlian Records boss a fair chance.
Marlian Records Music Returns to Agidigbo FM
With the ban officially lifted, songs from Naira Marley and other Marlian Records artistes will once again return to the Agidigbo FM playlist after nearly two years of absence.

What Does This Mean for Naira Marley’s Career?
The apology and lifting of the ban may help Naira Marley regain some lost ground in Nigeria’s mainstream music scene. His reputation suffered a heavy blow following Mohbad’s passing, and many radio stations and DJs reduced or completely stopped playing his songs.
Now that one of the biggest independent radio voices in Nigeria has reversed its decision, it may open the door for more platforms to re-embrace Marlian Records music.
